Face book stores 800 pages of data on EACH user. http://www.geek.com/articles/geek-pick/facebook-stores-up-to-800-pages-of-personal-data-per-user-account-20110928/   Facebook consistently reappears in the news with regards to privacy and the data it keeps on each of its users. For example, earlier this week an engineer working for the social network had to explain why Facebook tracks you even when you’re logged out. While Facebook insists it does not share your details with anyone (complete LIE!), would it surprise you to find the amount of data stored about each user may in fact total 800 pages? It certainly surprised me. If you take a quick look through the document (PDF), you can see just how much data Facebook stores about you and your activities.

As well as the information you’d expect (name, address, date of birth, friends), there’s also unexpected data such as messages you have deleted, logging which events you decided not to attend as well as those you did, the last location you accessed Facebook from, a list of every single machine you ever logged into Facebook from, who has poked you, and there’s even fields for political and religious views even though they were empty.

Six million logged off Facebook for good in the U.S. - site privacy concerns.

The Facebook link cannot be found that easily, but it is there. See the direct deleting link below. Be aware not to login for 2 weeks or use facebook in any other way, or your account will be activated again, instead of deleted. If deletion is too much for you, try deactivation first.
